As you are all aware, Education is the prime requirement of every child. It is more essential for a girl child, as it is said that:
You Educate a Man – You Educate a Person
You Educate a Woman – You Educate a Family
Improvement in the Society and betterment of living happens with the education of a child.
So, we The Women’s Forum [earlier name - IISc Ladies Club] of Indian Institute of Science has launched a Benevolent Fund for the education of girl children from Schools and colleges with poor financial background to continue their education. It will be in kind - providing study materials like note books, uniforms, school bags, and any other stationary items to needy girl children and not in cash.
The Benevolent Fund was launched, Inaugurated by our Director, Prof P Balaram on the International Women’s Day – 8th March 2010 and initially, twelve students from three schools were benefited.
We thank all the Institute community who have contributed to the Benevolent Fund and thus helped in launching this fund successfully.
This year also, on the International Women's Day, i.e. on March 8th, 2011, we will be providing educational assistance from the benevolent fund to the needy girl students.
We request you all to come forward for the contribution to the Benevolent Fund and thus help to light a lamp of education in the life of a girl child and give her a chance to lead a life of dignity.
Contributions to the Benevolent Fund may be given in cash or cheque drawn in favour of the IISc Ladies Club and get the receipt.
