Social Initiatives Committee 2011-12 |
Social Initiatives Committee of is formed to support and extend our love towards society with a broader goal of bringing about some difference to the society (as small it may be). One of the activity of the committee is “Help the needy” movement which involves collection of clothes and other materials from the students (especially outgoing) and distribution of them to people in need. Unlike previous years, this year the collection was done just for a specific time at a specified location. This helped in facilitating the segregation of materials very easily and prevented the mixing of good stuff with others. There was a good response from the students and a huge amount of clothes and other articles are ready for distribution. Thanks to all IIScians for contributing to this noble cause.
The other activities that the group plan is
- To arrange some talks on various issues of social concerns.
- Organizing a blood donation camp
- Facilitating the mechanism of blood requirement with the already maintained donor details
- Encouraging the local vendors, rather than the branded companies selling the same product at higher rates (e.g.- kurta, t-shirts, etc)
- Raising some issues of education system with the higher authorities
Suggestions and new ideas are most welcome.
We also appreciate and would support (if any required) to the other social activities in the Institute run by active student groups like NoteBook Drive, Reach and Teach, etc.
