 Events:

IISc Tennis Tournaments 2012

 The Tennis tournaments will be held from 25/02/2012. There will be
following events:
 1> Beginners Men's Singles
 2> Seniors Men's Singles
 3> Women's Singles
 4> Seniors Men's Doubles
  The Deadline for registration will be 20/02/2012.

PS-  All matches will be held in synthetic tennis court at IISc Gymkhana.
All participants must be the members of IISc Gymkhana.

 Summer Coaching Camp:

Update: April 27, 2011

* All participants are required to wear proper tennis shoes (no spikes or heels or button shoes) and bring their own racquet

* Camp will be conducted only on clay court

* Fee includes monthly membership for the court,

All regular, associate, special members are eligible for the camp.

FIRST DAY THERE WILL BE INTRODUCTORY CLASS AT 5PM IISc TENNIS CLAY COURT
and batch and batch timings will be decided.

THOSE WHO WANT ADVANCED COACHING CAN SEND MAIL TO BELOW MENTIONED MAIL ID.
Also, make sure to be present on first day so that possibility can be
discussed with coach.
 

Tennis Club, Gymkhana,IISc is organizing a tennis coaching camp commencing May 1, 2011.

Coach: Mr. Santosh RF. AITA (All India Tennis Association) certified coach. He was the coach for the camp conducted last year.

Two courses are offered.

1. Basic course (30 days) - Fee INR. 650/-

2. Basic course (30 days) + Follow up course (15 days) - Fee INR. 900/-

* Camp will be conducted only on the clay court

* Fee includes monthly membership for the court

All regular, associate, special members are eligible for the camp.

LAST DATE for registration is 29th April.

Registrations are to be done at gymkhana office on payment of fees and presenting appropriate i-card/documents.


 Tennis Open Tournament:

 Events:

1. Men's singles and doubles
2. Women's singles and doubles
3. Mixed doubles.

Eligibility:
All members and associate members of IISc Gymkhana (includes faculty
children and project associates).

The semifinalists of the beginners tournament are eligible for the seniors
tournament.

Surface:

All matches will be played on the synthetic court.

Participation fee:
No fee is charged for participation, however candidate MUST possess the
monthly card issued by gymkhana office.

 

FACILITIES:

  •  Synthetic Court. Rs. 150 per month.
  • Clay court. Rs. 70 per month.
  • A wall practice area for beginners.
  • New balls provided for play on the court.
  • Used balls are available at Rs. 10 per ball for wall practice.


TIMINGS:

 

Morning: 6.00 AM to 8.30 AM
Evening: 5.00 PM to 7.30 PM


 

ACTIVITIES:

Tournament in the month of September/December every year.
Summer camp conducted in the month of May by professional coach.

FOR BEGINNERS:

For new players, it is recommended to start with wall practice, then move to mud court and then to synthetic court.
It takes around a month of regular practice to pick up ground strokes ( fore/back hand).
Rackets range from Rs. 1,500 to Rs. 10,000.
You can take help of lessons in youtube or ask seniors on court.
